Cardiac Diet - Lose 10lbs in 3 days

Hi, Has anyone tried the 3 day cardiac diet also known as the 3 day Birmingham Cardiac Diet, 3 day Navy Diet, Tuna Fish Diet, Florida 3 Day Diet, or Alabama 3 Day Diet.

It claims that you can lose upto 10lbs in 3 days and was designed for patients who needed to lose weight quickly before their surgery.

Cardiac Diet - Lose 10lbs in 3 days


Just eat responsibly for four days, then repeat the 3-day diet again!

Day 1

BREAKFAST
Black Coffee or Tea
1/2 Grapefruit or Juice
1 Slice of Dry Toast
1 Tbsp. of Peanut Butter

LUNCH
Black Coffee or Tea
1/2 Cup of Tuna
1 Slice of Dry Toast or 1 Oz. of Cheddar Cheese

DINNER
3 Oz. any Lean Meat
1 Cup String Beans
1 Cup Carrots or Beets
1 Small Apple
1 Cup Vanilla Ice Cream

Day 2

BREAKFAST
Black Coffee or Tea
1 Egg
1 Slice of Dry Toast
1/2 Banana

LUNCH
Black Coffee or Tea
1 Cup of Cottage Cheese or 1/2 Cup of Tuna
5 Saltine Crackers

DINNER
2 Beef Franks
1 Cup Cabbage or Broccoli
1/2 Cup Carrots or Turnip Greens
1/2 Banana
1/2 Cup Vanilla Ice Cream


Day 3

BREAKFAST
Black Coffee or Tea
5 Saltine Crackers
1 Oz. of Cheddar Cheese
1 Small Apple


LUNCH
Black Coffee or Tea
1 Hard-Boiled Egg
1 Slice of Dry Toast


DINNER
1 Cup Tuna
1 Cup Beans or Cauliflower
1 Cup Carrots or Beets
1 Cup Melon
1/2 Cup Vanilla Ice Cream


Drink Lots of Water Too!


• An orange instead of grapefruit
• Tuna instead of cottage cheese and vice versa
• Frozen yogurt instead of ice cream
• Cauliflower instead of broccoli and vice versa
• Green beans instead of broccoli or cauliflower
• Beets instead of carrots
• A slice of toast instead of five crackers or vice versa

    1. And every time I see Military Diet I say cardiac diet. What they are calling the Military Diet now was out as a diet from a cardiac hospital (in Birmingham I believe) in the early 1980's. I have my original paper somewhere, but would have to find it.

    2. THAT is SO NOT true esperanza!!! I was a professional athlete, in better physical shape at 50 than MOST 19 yr olds ever HOPE to be! I just got a pacemaker and defibrillator due to congestive heart failureand a Left bundle branch block which was most probably a birth defect, arteries are clean.... I have been prescribed a Cardiac Diet...being vegan has nothing at all to do with MY heart failure or whether or not I will need heart surgery.

  7. Also, do you need to eat everything? I get full very quickly naturally and the dinners have a lot, would it be fine to not completely finish every meal?

  10. This is called the Scarsdale diet. I had the book on it, and did it in the early 80's. It worked great when I was young.

  20. I did this diet last year using spices (salt, pepper, garlic, etc), sugar subs for tea, and other things that wouldn't seem to matter. I lost 3 pounds in the 3 days. I just finished it again following to the letter, no subs, no additions, no nothing. If it wasn't on the list, it didnt go in my mouth, PLUS drinking a gallon of water each day and lost 7 pounds. I think I could have lost more but monthly bloating due to "cycle" issues were involved. I don't like plain tea or coffee. I made tea or coffee, let them cool and chugged it before the meal. I let the food wash away the bitter taste of the drink. This is how I had to look at it. It is 3 days and 9 meals out of my 40 something years on this planet. I managed and will be doing it again this week, after my 4 day break. I have tried paleo, keto and other programs with success. As soon as I stopped, I would put all the weight back on. I'm not saying this is a realistic life continuation but it will give you a jump start to help get you motivated or on some kind of track. Exercise is a must also. If you are a large person and can't walk very well, swing your arms or spin them like you're punching a speed bag. Pace back and forth across your livingroom or up and down your hall. Everyone has to start somewhere. You just have to make the decision that today is that start day. Good luck!

  21. I am curious why the ice cream? This is roughly 800 calories per day with this calorie deficit it would be nearly impossible to not lose weight.
